Curators Breakfast, Seddon Park

  • WHAT AN EVENT! In conjunction with Plus Mortgage Trust, Seddon Cricket Club hosted the inaugural Curators Breakfast at Seddon Park - it was a fantastic success. The sold out boutique event connected cricket enthusiasts and local dignitaries together as they listened to fascinating insights by the Honourable Christopher Bishop , Craig McMillan and Karl Johnson who all share a passion for cricket, albeit through 3 very different lenses.

Bishop, who is the former captain of the NZ Parliamentary XI, spoke about his experiences playing cricket. He also spoke passionately about some of his fond cricket memories while he has followed the game over many years as a supporter.

McMillan, who has arguably provided Seddon Park with its finest moment when he hit a quick fire century to lead the BLACKCAPS to victory against Australia in 2007, chatted about that innings and how it was one of his great achievements in the game.

Karl (KJ) Johnson, gave an insightful presentation about how he prepares a Test Match pitch. He talked about the rules, regulations and challenges that he endures leading into a test match. He generously presented Bishop and McMillan with a piece of the Seddon Park pitch! to warm applause from the guests in attendance.

This event wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for some of our loyal and hardworking volunteers, namely, Simeon Price, Kirsten Stevens , Melissa Stark and Colin Groves.

Thank you to club member Michelle Dando for taking the photos.

Thank you to Kerr & Ladbrook Catering for their fantastic catering service

We appreciate the support of Northern Districts Cricket Association and Hamilton City Council for allowing us to run this event. It was great to have Paula Southgate Mayor of Hamilton attend, thank you for your support, Paula.

Thanks to Ryan Hamilton MP for Hamilton East for his support also.

It was wonderful to have Anne Tolley travel over the Kaimai Hills to visit us. Thank you, Anne.

This will be the first of many Curators Breakfasts. We are glad that we have finally been able to start this tradition!
