Basin Reserve Day with Wanderers & United Country and Vineyard
-
Basin Reserve Day
On Saturday the 6th of April 2024, Seddon Cricket Club were invited to play at the spiritual home of New Zealand Cricket, the Basin Reserve, by our good friends at Wanderers Cricket Club, Wellington.
The Wanderers are also a Kindred Cricket Club who share the same values and ethos as Seddon Cricket Club. In fact, Wanderers have been around since 1946 so we are actually following in their footsteps! Our club has been inspired by the Wanderers and what they do for youth cricket.
The purpose of these types of days is to give our general members an opportunity to experience something special. On this occasion members from across the North Island represented Seddon Cricket Club.
We played in a Triangular Series of games as the United Country and Vineyard Cricket from Blenheim were also invited to play.
As far as the cricket was concerned it wasn’t a great day on the field for Seddon Cricket Club, losing both our matches to superior opposition. It didn’t dampen the spirit of the players though and it was an experience to savor.
Thank you very much to Wanderers Cricket Club for their magnificent hospitality, in particular Ben Castle and William Marshall
Thank you to the Basin Reserve Ground Staff for allowing us to play on such an iconic ground.
